TOKYO: Saudi Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Ghazi Binzagr, met with ARAI Katsuki, Japan’s Vice-Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), to discuss energy security, global economic developments, and bilateral cooperation.

According to a statement from the Saudi Embassy on Tuesday, the meeting aimed to strengthen strategic dialogue between the two nations. The officials exchanged views on regional and international developments, focusing on the impact on energy security and the global economy. They emphasized the need to build economic and energy resilience to address emerging challenges and reaffirmed the importance of their bilateral partnership in pursuing future opportunities.

This meeting aligns with ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral energy cooperation. In May 2026, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry AKAZAWA Ryosei and Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman agreed to establish a joint task force to enhance collaboration on energy supply chains, infrastructure, stockpiling, and investment. On June 2, the ministers held a follow-up meeting to review the progress of the Japan-Saudi Energy System Resilience Task Force.
